Pneumatic Atex Solenoids
Pneumatic solenoids are used to control compressed air within a pneumatic system. They are used in process automation applications to actuate tools and to act as pilot valves for larger industrial valves. If a pneumatic solenoid has official an ATEX certification this means it has been fully tested and approved in accordance with ATEX to be safe for use in hazardous and/or explosive atmospheres, and it is therefore considered an explosion proof solenoid.
ATEX solenoids are often used to automate processes that require pneumatic power in an environment that contains combustible or flammable particles; using a non-explosion proof solenoid may cause ignition either through failure, fault or even standard operation, which could be a potentially costly and extremely dangerous mistake.
ATEX is a certification designed to ensure that equipment will work safely in an explosive environment without causing an accident. Equipment used in explosive atmospheres within the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA) must be ATEX certified, just like our explosion proof solenoid valves.
Explosion proof solenoid valves are used in processing and industrial applications in industries such as chemical, industrial, pharmaceutical and food and drink. They are designed to be deployed in potentially hazardous applications, for example, where the environment may contain flammable gases, mists or vapours or by combustible dusts.
