Switchboxes
Switchboxes are automation components. In simple terms, they consist of a box that contains switches. A switchbox would be mounted onto an actuated valve so that when the valve operates, it is able to provide feedback to a control panel. In this way a switchbox is used to provide information as to whether a valve is open or closed.
Switchboxes are a component of process automation and can be used to generate signals that will be interpreted by the operator or to feedback into a computer controlled system to indicate the status of a valve or other piece of equipment.
A switchbox is be used in applications where you want to know the state of a particular valve either as an indicator (to illuminate a warning light when the valve is open, perhaps for health and safety reasons), as an electronic control for another part of the process that relies on a particular valve position, or as a feedback device for a computer controlled automation system.
