Blair Miller - Managing Director

Blair Miller – Managing Director.

As the ‘face of BME’ I am responsible for the general running of the company. I am a sales specialist and use my knowledge and expertise to guide the team. I have 34 years of experience in the valve industry, ranging from manufacturing, to installation and commissioning, to sales and now running my own company.

Upon leaving school, I joined the Bank of Scotland before moving to Australia, where I worked for National Australia Bank and Westpac as a Customer Service Officer. Since returning to the UK, I have worked in different sectors, including childcare and estate agency. I am responsible for all financial issues within the company as well as administration.

Scott Miller - Sales Engineer

I gained an honours degree in Mechanical and Electronic Systems Engineering in 2011, after which I worked with BME for a short time. I then moved to Australia for a year, where I gained experience in the process industry working for Bürkert Fluid Control Systems. After returning to the UK, I continued to work in the family business. Besides general sales activities, I am responsible for making sure orders are completed correctly and on time. I specialise in larger projects and have helped deliver a number of successful projects as part of the team at BME. I also help with other aspects of the day-to-day running of the business such as IT.

Sophie Thompson - Sales Engineer

I am responsible for day to day sales and quotations, ensuring orders are processed and completed on time, as well as carrying out ISO 9001 internal audits. I have a BEng (hons) from Glasgow University and an MEng from Open University.

I am the newest member of the team at BME, responsible for day-to-day sales and quotations, ensuring orders are processed on time and providing the highest level of customer service possible. When required, I also assist our warehouse manager with the assembly of valves, actuators and controls packages. I have an honours degree in Quantity Surveying and have years of experience working as an Insurance Claims Investigator. Working in the process industry is new for me, however the years of experience amongst the BME team is absolutely 2nd to none.

Established in 1999, BM Engineering Supplies is an independent, family-run business with customer service at the heart of everything that we do. We have grown to become one of the leading valve suppliers to many process industries in Scotland, with over 60 years’ combined experience in the valve industry.

BM Engineering Supplies is a distributor to some of the biggest names in valve manufacturing, including Bürkert, Inoxpa and Orbinox to name just a few. We can supply butterfly, ball, check and gate valves, as well as actuated packages on a next day basis from our warehouse in Glasgow. We also stock a variety of solenoid valves, pressure gauges, diaphragm valves, globe valves and control valves for steam.
